A Great Value for a Fun Haunt

by hauntingutah at Citysearch

Fear Factor: 8/10

There are parts of this haunt where you are not allowed to go if you have pacemakers, metal plates or other surgical enhancements in your body. This creates a feeling of uneasy concern that elevates the fear factor of the haunt. They have 4 levels of fear inside the haunted house, but didn’t identify them in a great way. You could go from level 1 to 3 and not even notice you had done so. The women we were with had sore throats by the end of the haunt from screaming so much. It is scary enough to be fun, but not too much to take the young ones.

Acting: 7/10

The actors never broke character and most were believable. Some were over the top and odd so it didn’t give you the terrifying feeling you should inside a haunt. There were young children in the haunt that did an excellent job with their roles. Any time you see a child with a quality role in a haunted house it sends chills down your spine.

Creativity: 6/10

The artwork inside the haunt was great. It was very creative and excellent color combinations. The haunt itself didn’t bring anything new to the table and felt traditional the entire way through.

Artistry: 8/10

It was very artistic the entire time. I found myself staring at the artwork on the walls and in the décor more than anything else. The use of low level lighting instead of darkness helped to support the artistry of the haunt.

Realism: 7/10

You always know you are in a haunted house at this Castle of Chaos. It is fun and entertaining, but you never quite get that feeling that what you are experiencing is real.

Wait Time: 9/10

This haunt does a great job in mitigating crowding throughout the entire haunt. The worst thing a haunted can do is shove as many people in as fast as possible. Castle of Chaos never had an issue with that. There are many choke points they use to split people up so you are not bumping into other groups. We went through the whole haunt at our own pace and never ran into another group or had one run into us, even though we got stuck in some mazes for a little bit.

Price Value: 9/10

At most you pay $18 to do the haunted house. But there is also a special where you can pay $25 to get in all three locations of the Castle of Chaos. This is the best deal I have seen in town, 3 for $25. Even two at that price would be great. The haunted house is of good enough quality that paying full price of $18 is not a hard pill to swallow.

Overall Rating: 8/10

Overall the Castle of Chaos on Redwood Rd (formerly Nightmare Mansion) is a good quality haunt. It may not be first on your list, but it shouldn’t be missed either. It is fun and a great value. It isn’t a typical dark haunted house but instead tries to get you with great artistry and environment. The management of the haunted house is doing a great job in taking feedback and making it into a reality. This young haunt will evolve into a powerhouse of peril in the future. I recommend hitting this haunt due to it’s central location, great staff and excellent artwork.

The review below that says it is the exact same as the other Castle of Chaos is ridiculous. We went to both locations within a week of each other and the experience was completely different. The Castle of Chaos is dark and mysterious whereas the Nightmare Mansion keeps the lights low and creeps you out with great visuals.

welcome to the repeat

by REPTILIAS at Citysearch

well if you wanna see the same show twice as people have told me then Castle of Chaos and Haunted Mansion is the place to go other then different make up and actors they are the exact same lay out nothing different about them so if you want a BIG disappointment for a show and people yelling BOO then go to the 2 same haunts just in different locations waste if money and gas that my father in laws family bought the VIP passes to both haunts with the free T-shirt voucher and castle of chaos didn't let them into the VIP line to get in and the kids were so disappointed at what a bad show it was they didn't even go to the other one as well as they didn't get their free t-shirt after paying the extra money to get it...

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place and staff...

Loved it!

by acemur at Citysearch

I went last year and really enjoyed the whole thing. Almost everyone that went through said it was great. When I took my family through (with some neighbor friends) I think the kids enjoyed it the most. My wife screamed the entire time, and I don't think she even saw anything. She just grabbed my hand and closed her eyes!

This year they have added a ton more stuff. The sets are better, the whole things seems a lot longer, and the actors and makeup are amazing!

Definitely worth going!

Nightmare Mansion Rules!

by brianz801 at Citysearch

Last year was my first year through Nightmare Mansion and they blew me away. I liked it so much I went twice last year. Their 3D section was amazing and they got alot of scares on me. Everyone I went with thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

This year they have added TONS of new stuff. As good as I thought it was last year, this year is way way better. There is tons of new scares, effects, rooms...it's awesome.

Definitely one of the best haunts in Utah. Highly recommended.

Nightmare Mansion/Castle of Chaos

by Amulon at Citysearch

I wanted to go to a couple of haunts this last year and ended up going to Haunted Hollow and Nightmare on 13th. Both were ok. I have been to them for years. Nightmare has great animatronics, but is a quick show. Haunted Hollow had a lot of dead space with no actors.

I saw the 2/1 price online for Castle of Chaos and Nightmare Mansion. I had heard of Castle before, but not Nightmare Mansion. So I decided I would try them out. I am glad I did. Castle was very scary.. I really enjoyed the coffin. Nightmare Mansion was in it's first year so i wasn't sure what to expect. (it has 4 levels of fear. 3d maze, Haunted Mansion, Insane Asylum and Dungeon.)

My kids and I really enjoyed the 3d maze. Some really fun effects and great art and the actors kept me jumping.

The mansion had several great scares and one that really got me at the end that made my kids get after me for swearing. :)

The insane asylum was a bump up and I was a bit worried with my kids, but they seemed to just stick a bit closer to me. The make up was really done nicely.

The dungeon made us break up into groups and that made it even more creepy. I loved it and can't wait to go back this year. I hear they are really adding to it.

  • Pros: Great Actors, 2 haunts for good price.
  • Cons: lines, but expected.
