The food is great, especially the seafood dishes: ceviche, jalea to name a few. My personal favorite is the tallarin saltado. Take the servers' advice, they know the good stuff. The owner of the restaurant is a sweet, old Peruvian lady and loves to talk to her customers. I love this place!
Wonderful Food!. I have been going to La Carretta for years, and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Orem! They do use similar seasonings on the food, but they are all very good. I would recommend a variety of dishes, though I am partial to the Saltados. I have seen a few days where it wasn't as good as usual, but that was often when the owner was on vacation that day and she wasn't cooking. I highly recommend La Carretta!!! There's a purple drink that I order, it was fabulous.
Something different.
I can't make a judgment about how authentic this Peruvian food is, but friends who've lived in Peru say it is good. The servings are large. Using French fries where most North Americans would expect rice, or of serving rice and french fries in the same dish, take a little bit of mental adjustment. Nevertheless, the food is good. I haven't been fond of the appetizers, but the main dishes are tasty as well as hearty.
The service is all right, the ambience is reasonably pleasant, certainly better than it was in its old location, which was an old house with the walls ripped out. However, the new location is very loud.
Tres Leches.
I went there and the restaurant is pretty but the food is poor in taste. They use the same "Seasoning for all of the dishes " which can affect the stomach. I have return to make sure I did not miss a good dish or perhaps it was the weather but I am found out that the food is not even "Typical" and is still not very tasty but the service is good. The portions are more less medium to small portions.
I am yet to see a good Peruvian Restaurant in Orem. The place is cute but the food could improve for sure. I recommend the "Steak a la chorrillana" and the desserts but anything else in the menu "needs work"
