The Scene – Tepanyaki's palatial feel belies the fact that dining here is an intimate, interactive experience. Simple elegance defines the decor, and the space is bright and open. Each table seats about eight and comes with a personal chef who prepares food in front of delighted guests. Trained in the art of hibachi cooking, chefs serve as impromptu performance artists, amazing diners with kitchen acrobatics, sleight-of-hand and grill-assisted pyrotechnics. – – The Food – Before the chef gets started, order some appetizers. BAD MANAGEMENT AND HORRIBLE SANITATION!!!
by minjae89
I would have to agree with meganr15, their sanitation level is very low, and that is why I will never go to Tepanyaki again. My reason for not going ever again is because I saw and smelled cigarettes being smoked by the chiefs in the back while they were cutting the meat!!! (been there last week)
Also another point to add is that I realized that they have lost a lot of great servers, I have ask to the servers there why people are quitting, and the servers that are there reply back by saying, management is horrible, and I would not be surprised. To us customers it seems all perfect to us but what I saw was unspeakable and unbelievable. I saw the owner/manager (I think his name was Sam) grab an employees cell phone and throw it on the ground! Of course it broke and to my surprise the server did not yell back for it, all I heard from Sam was, "If you do not like what I did, get out!" Sure the employee was in the wrong of bringing out the cell phone but it did not seem to me that the employee was calling anyone maybe he was checking what time it was? I really do not know what you all think but I do not think that it gives a manager rights to break one of the employees cell phone.
All in all those are my comments and thoughts and that this place should be inspected by the department of health and the labor work force.
- Pros: servers were the best I have seen around town but . . .
- Cons: the management and sanitation is horrible and distusting
Worst experience of my life
by meganr15
Tepanyaki has been one of my favorite restaurants until Saturday. My husband and I were there for our first anniversary. I was happily eating my noodles when I bit down on something that was not chewable. So, I took it out of my mouth and put it in my napkin and found that it was a used band-aid. I was freaking out! The hostess didn't really seem to think it was that big of a deal and still tried to charge my husband for his food. I can't believe I held my food down, I wish I hadn't. This completely ruined my anniversary! I am terribly disgusted and am still gagging over this experience.
- Pros: Usually great food
- Cons: Very bad experience, treated poorly, unsanitary
Food is incredible, portions are big, chefs are fun and professional, service is good. LOVE IT!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The chefs have always been very professional and fun and I've eaten here many times. The steak and shrimp is excellent, the veggies included with every meal are amazing, and I really like everything I've ordered. Its so delicious! If you don't enjoy eating with strangers, bring six to ten people to avert the occasional possibility of sitting with bratty toddlers or annoying red necks. For me,its never been a problem, but I can see how some people who want a private dining experience could be annoyed.
Note that some of the negative reviews posted are not for the restaurant in Provo.
- Pros: Great food, tender steak, awesome sauces, delicious veggies, professional chefs
- Cons: no sushi but then again its not a sushi place, potentially annoying people at table
