I had a great experience with Spencer's Camera. I needed my camera before a trip for the holidays and they were able to provide my IR camera well before my trip, a 3 day turnaround. Everything performs and looks perfect. I had another camera converted by another well known company about 6 months ago (took them 3 months to complete) and they used a cheap plastic filter. Also,there was lots of dust in all images that even a local camera repair shop could not get clean. Also, it was very easily scratched when self cleaning the filter. Spencer's obviously installed a very hard and durable coated filter that I have tested to be very scratch resistant. Almost bullet proof. I had my local shop inspect their work and even they were very impressed. I use my camera everyday for my photography business and a solid camera is a most. I recommend Spencer's over all other companies. You won't regret it.

I was a fortunate escapee from the clutches of this shyster. Was all friendly and full of great ideas till he got my money and camera - from Australia. Then nothing for months. I had to fight fire with fire and sent him a bogus email from another account saying that I was a school that had a quantity of cameras ready for conversion and that I was recommended - by myself of course. I soon received my camera back when he got a sniff of a big job. You will note that after every negative post - on many sites, he will always shuffle it back with positive posts from himself. Be warned, steer very clear.

I had a superior experience with Spencer's Camera. I had a spot on my camera mirror (don't know hot it got there) and they cleaned it for me while I waited, and didn't charge anything! It's hard to find service like that these days! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Spencer's repaired my camera in lightenening fast time when the other local shop I normally use couldn't get it done for months. My camera sat at the other shop for 4 months with no phone call, email or any update of any kind. The initial guestimate from the other shop was $180. Spencer's had it back to me in 3 days and for $120. They even cleaned the camera (It needed it badly) at no extra charge. That's what I call great service. They performeed their job and went above and beyond by providing a little extra. I was referred to them by a few other friends and they all said Spencer's was great. They were right. I highly recommend Spencer's Camera.

I had looked into many Infrared camera conversion companies and decided to use Spencer's. What a great decision! They are always pleasant to talk to and very helpful. The price is very reasonable and service is awesome. I have now had three cameras modified by Spencer's and am very happy with all of them. I have also had a few cameras repaired and cleaned by them and they were very price and time sensitive. I needed my gear back for a trip to europe and they had it all completed early. Can't say enough about their great service. Keep up the good work!

Avoid Spencer's!!!. I strongly recommend considering another service for IR conversion. Stay away from Spencer's.

I purchased a fairly high-end Nikon dSLR from Spencer's for purposes of a full-spectrum conversion. They initially delighted me with their quick turnaround of a week or so.

But I received the camera and, first of all, ti was clearly grey-market- it came in a foreign box. Fine, I thought; if it works, it works, and there wasn't any upfront assurance that the camera *wouldn't* be grey-market, so I figured I may as well use it.

...and all was well for a very short while- a week or so. For their fairly quick delivery and apparently decent workmanship, I award them one star!...

The camera stopped working after a couple hundred shots. There seemed to be shutter issues. I followed all manner of online fixes including magic menu combinations and firmware upgrades etc. Alas, nothing worked. So I contacted Spencer's and, to my delight, they said it'd be covered under their warranty and I should send it back. So I express shipped it back to them- at my own expense, of course.

Well that was about 2 months ago... and not a peep from Spencer's. They haven't returned my repeated messages. I am out more than $1500 and don't even have a lemon of a grey-market camera to play with.

I should add, I am very experienced with the Nikon dSLRs, this was my fifth, and I have ~35 cameras total, so this wasn't some newbie mistake on my part. They sent me a lemon and appear to be waiting just long enough for it to go out of warranty so that they're not responsible.

Avoid Spencer's... the same thing could happen to you. Perhaps they were reliable at some point in the past but they sure aren't now.

*Very* disappointed. This purchase was made for a time-sensitive project and I lost a lot of money on it.

Pleased customer!. Exceptional quality and great service. I have had IR conversions performed by other companies and my cameras were not working properly when I received them back. A friend told me he found Spencer's while searching online so I gave them a try. Spencer's has performed 3 conversion for me now and all perform better than expected. I am a very pleased customer and refer all my friends and family to them for repairs and IR work.
