I am a person who reads reviews before I go to a business and when I am going to spend a lot of money. I read previous comments and thought something did not add up in their stories. SO. I took the day off and went to Young for a much delayed dental visit. I knew it was going to be a doosie. I got there and saw THE HAPPIEST KID leaving with a balloon. I did not wait long before I was led to a room. My assistant was friendly and explained the visit proceedings and made sure I was comfy. I saw the hygienist who I completely got along with and she tells me with much kindness that I am needing a cleaning that requires some added TLC and fundage. This lady had some talent--the shots didn't hurt. She wasn't rough with me when she cleaned my teeth--she communicated very well with me. The dentist came in, made eye contact and was friendly and showed me state of the art photos of my teeth and what I needed done. He is a very kind and honest man. If your visit went fast, it's because these people are VERY experienced and have high tech equipment. Example: NO DOUBT I HAD A CAVITY. IT WAS VERY CLEAR ON THE SCREEN. There is no way there is any question of whether it exists..... :) No one cheated because I clearly saw it myself. And I even got to meet the office manager. The 4 people I interacted with at this visit were kind, not rushed, gentle, and extremely personable. *** I am kind of ticked off that the previous people wrote nasty things and wanted to convince me to not go here. THEY OBVIOUSLY HAD SOMETHING GOING ON THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS OFFICE AND THEIR PERFORMANCE. Message me on Facebook if you need some extra personal vouching. I didn't know anyone at this office before and I came back later the same day with my husband to get his long-overdue visit done and all I was met with was smiles, hey how ya doin's, jokes, and extreme friendliness. No one was ever rude or rushed or anything. That was a total of 2 visits. I had such a pleasant experience earlier in the day that I even wrangled my husband into going there and getting a cleaning and exam. Translation: if I found anything to be sub-par, I wouldn't have been there a second time leaving a 2nd debit payment. End note: If I can do anything to undue what the previous people said, it might be sound like this..... I feel bad for businesses when people give a bad review because of their personal motives. But as for this dentist office, I will be back and I am going to bring some friends, too. Oh, and I got a big balloon with a smiley face on it, too.
I was needing to get my wisdom teeth pulled a year ago and since I didn't know much about the area I googled dental offices in Orem that near me. It just so happened that Young Family Dentist was close by. I decided to read some reviews on this place before I go and saw that there were a lot of negative things to be said. At first this put me off but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and check them out. I was glad that the reviews I read didn't deter me from going. I made an appointment and when I got there 10 min early they actually sat me right then and there. All the staff were very friendly and seemed highly knowledgeable on what they were doing. I was numbed up pretty quick and my dentist Dr Chris was very friendly and also seemed knowledgeable because he was in and out quickly with no complications. After I was done, I set up an appointment for a follow up and when I went back I received no less than the awesome work that I had gotten previously. I recommend this place hands down from my experience and if you do go, ask for Dr. Chris. He is definitely one of the best.
This dentist practice is awful. We saw 3 of the 5 or so dentists there in about 2 months with 2 of my children and none of them were nice. They were all impatient with the kids, seemed annoyed and busy and when my oldest son said the drilling hurt, he kept drilling telling him it didn't. We had to go back for a 2nd filling and because the first filling was so painful my son wasn't the least bit cooperative. He was scared and the dentist did nothing to make him feel better. Instead he threw his gloves down, told him he would leave him with a hole in his teeth and then went into the next room, and within hearing distance told whomever was on the phone with him that he was with the "patient from hell". My son is 8. He came back in, looked at my son and then walked out. The dental assistant came back a few minutes later to tell me that he had left for the day... my son still had a hole in his tooth. They did a temporary filling and tried to schedule me to come back another time, where my son would be put under. I instead found another dentist, who was nice and calm and reassuring for my son and was able to fix the cavity, take out a tooth that needed to be removed and put spacers in, all without putting him under, without yelling at him and without making him feel scared. Bedside manners make a difference to kids, and Young Family Dental has no idea what to do with anxious kids. Obviously we will never go there again and I highly recommend against anyone else going there.
Go somewhere else!.
I am basing this review off of many, many visits to this dental group. The only reason I kept going back is because my procedure was never complete. First of all, I had problems with the billing. I probably know more than the average person about insurance, but I also seemed to know more about the fee schedules and payment amounts than most of the billing staff there. I was overcharged for services and then not notified that I had a refund waiting for me at the office. It wasn't until my next visit, three months later, that I found out that I had about $100 waiting to be returned to me. I wish that was all...
My husband went for a regular checkup and they told him he had SIX cavities. In his life he had only ever had one, so six was a lot. We went to another dentist for a second opinion and they told him he had one small cavity. That's a BIG difference.
Once when I was getting two fillings, one on each side, I was feeling pain when the dentist was drilling into my teeth. I signaled for him to stop and he told me to just hang on since it would be over soon. I've had my fair share of root canals and have never had problems. He continued filling these two teeth with tears streaming down my face. At a later visit, I tried to signal the dental assistant to not spray cold water directly on my teeth because they were sensitive, and once again this same dentist told me to hold on, that it would be over shortly. So once again, I had to deal with discomfort.
Finally, I had a tooth that I got a root canal on but the infection wouldn't go away. I went back to the office for an entire YEAR trying to resolve the issue and they just kept trying to fix it but didn't really ever explain why it wasn't healing. Finally, I went to an endodontist who told me that my tooth had been perforated, probably by the dentist at Young Family who gave me the initial root canal, and that my tooth couldn't be saved. By this point, I had paid Young Family for a root canal and a crown. That's about $1000 down the drain. Now I am in the process of getting an implant since the tooth has been extracted. Thanks to Young Family, I have spent about $2000 on this problem, and will still have to pay for a new crown.
I have nothing good to say about Young Family Dental. I now go to Ryan Hamilton in south Provo and he and his entire staff are amazing!
Young Family Dental = Con Artists!. These people are total con artists! I received a coupon for an exam at Young Family Dental and thought I'd give them a try. I only saw a dentist for about TWO minutes after the hygienist had done my cleaning, and he acted as though he was trying to get out of the room as quickly as possible. Dr. Young never even looked in my mouth, but promptly informed me that my fillings from previous cavities were decaying and that I should replace my white fillings with silver amalgam fillings. I wasn't aware that dentists even used amalgam fillings anymore because they contain mercury, which is released into a person's system. Dr. Young insisted that I should replace my fillings to the tune of $1,000, despite the fact that I have never had a dentist mention any possibility that my fillings could decay after only a few years. I ended up leaving the office (the dentist STILL hadn't even looked at my teeth) and scheduled an appointment with a dentist that had been recommended by a friend. I was told that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my fillings and that there would be no reason to consider replacing them. Steer clear of Young Family Dental! They are on a mission to take your money, whether you actually need dental work or not.
