Horrible Thai food

by Iknowgoodfood

I was really hoping to have a good experience at Thai Kitchen. I absolutely loooove thai food and the whole time at BYU, I was craving some of that flavorful goodness. Unfortunately, I picked the worse place to go. I only ordered pad thai and the lady quoted me at 30 minutes. I thought...alright, maybe they're busy. I go in half an hour later and not only does she tell me to wait another 20 minutes, but I look around and there's 1 table! I am so puzzled at this point. I've worked at many restaurants and parent's even own one, so I usually know how they work. I was so dumbfounded. I finally stuck it out and got my food and it was in a tiny box that was not worth 8.95 and it didn't even taste like pad thai. It tasted like the pad thai mix you get at the store and they dumped noodles and chicken in it and to make it taste more authentic, smothered it with peanuts. I'm never one to complain about food or service, but I HAD to warn those who are thai food connoisseurs such as myself. I'm sorry Thai Kitchen, it's just not worth going back. I would have been your best customer.

Not worth the price

by JPRTT

I ordered a $8.50 dish, but it wasn't even worth that much. It was worth about $4.00. Plus, it didn't even fill me. I went somewhere else afterwards and got a real filling meal for just under $5.00. This place is not worth your time nor money. Leave it for the dogs.

by eating12

Old Information on this site needs updating.

Thai Chili Gardens moved its location to Orem almost 4 years ago.

The new address is 800 N and 430 W; behind the Sonic Burger.

In Provo's circuit of small ethnic restaurants this one's the most formal. Meaning: your food is made-to-order

The Scene
Thavone Mymala, a native of Laos, came to Utah to go to school and now operates the only Thai restaurant in Utah County. The cheerful and adept staff emphasize customer service and teamwork, drawing customers from Salt Lake who claim it has the best Thai food in Utah.

The Food
Each dish may be ordered with a varying spiciness level, from mild to super hot. Curries, noodles, and stir-fried entrees are featured on the enticing menu. The most popular and tasty creation available, Thavone's Musman Curry, is light and spicy with a coconut milk base. Tom Yum is a tempting soup with mushrooms, lemon grass, galanga and lime juice. Any selection may be prepared vegetarian. Several unique drinks offered, including herbal teas and longan (a native fruit) juice.

Thai Chili Garden

by rjh

Used to be very good. The quality of the food has been sliding over the past couple of years. There are a couple of newer Thai resturants in the Provo-Orem area that are better.

This is not even a good restaurant.

by chefomy

I've been reading about this restaurant in many publications, and they all say it is great. You guys really have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to Thai food. First of all, having the picture of king and queen of Thailnd on the wall can not change the fact that this is still a laos restaurant. They have no idea how to cook curry, satay, or any basic stir fried dish like pad ga prow. I've been in many cities in the US and this is by far the worst so call Thai i've been to. Bad suggesion.

  • Pros: cheerful server
  • Cons: poor quality food, you get what you pay

Surprisingly good

by ihateslc

Very small with a small menu but what they do they do well. It is one of Provo's Best places, (Bombay House in Provo is also good, Maybe better than the one in Salt Lake) The other Thai places in Provo are not worth wasting your money at. The Ruby Thai admitted that they didn't know how to make curries well.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: small selection

Home cooked

by djb2907

My father has lived in Thailand for a number of years and said that this is as authentic as it gets in the US. After saying that, if you know what to order, it is a great place for the first timer. I recommend the pad thai, my husbands favorite.

  • Pros: food, friendly people
  • Cons: parking, tight dining area

Good Eats

Great place to try Thai for the first time. I recommend the yellow curry for first time guests or people who can't handle spicy food. Also the ice cream with rice is odd sounding but wonderful tasting.
